Sanath Jayasuriya was the mainstay of the Sri Lankan innings, making a valuable 80 runs off 108 balls with the help of eight boundaries. Daniel Vettori and Chris Harris applied the brakes on the scoring with some excellent bowling. None of the top order Lankan batsman applied themselves enough to give Jayasuriya company. Atapattu (22), Jayawardene (14), Arnold (9) and Kaluwitharana (14) did not give a good account of themselves.
