crucial clash between India and New Zealand
This match is a vital clash for the two teams as India have no
points in the tourney thus far, while New Zealand has just 2
points
Sri Lanka have screamed away to a lead winning all three of their
matches and gathering 6 points
With plenty of cricket to come however, the tournament is still
sufficiently wide open to hold every team's interest
The Kiwi's lost a blinder to the hosts yesterday, having victory
snatched from them by some brilliant Lankan cricket. After being 4
wickets down for 27 runs the Lankans successfully chased 236
Then again, the Kiwi's would like to put the heroics of Russel
Arnold and Suresh Perera behind them and concentrate on the game
at hand
India for its part have not been at their best in this tourney
Hindered by the absence of Sachin Tendulkar, the Indians have
struggled, trying out various combinations
Yuvraj Singh, Amay Khurasiya and Virender Sehwag have been a bit of
a disappointment thus far. Ajit Agarkar is still injured and this
does not leave the Indians with much choice
The New Zealanders too have been hampered by niggling problems -
skipper Stephen Fleming and bowling all rounder Dion Nash were
indisposed with stomach trouble for the game against Lanka
For today however, Dion Nash comes back in to the New Zeland side,
replacing Bradburn who had an ordinary match against the Lankans
The conditions here are wet and a bit damp, as a result of this the
start is going to be a bit delayed. The umpires will hvae a look
at the wicket at 10.15 local time or 0945 India time, which is
0415 GMT
It is likely that the players would be out on the field at around
1100 local time, that is about an hour from now

The pitch looks quite damnp and there are a couple of spots that
particularly worry the umpires
This should make an already slow wicket even more slow
One would have thought this would lead to the teams picking more
slow bowlers. As it happens, India have left out Mohanty and
brought back the left armer Nehra
New Zealand, not surprisingly have brought back Dion Nash in place
of Bradburn who did not distinguish himself in the last game
It's still a bit cloudy here, although there's just enough sunshine
to help things dry up
The umpires for this match, Peter Manuel and Gamini Silva are out

The Indians found the going tough as one by one their batsmen
failed to get going
To top it all, the run outs kept coming as well and there seemed to
be nothing the New Zealanders could do wrong
At the end of the day Harris had figures of 7-3-9-2, Vettori 10-0-
33-1, Nash 7.4-0-25-1 and so on... everyone was tidy
The end result - a comprehensive New Zealand win!
