Bara District claim Nepal's 1999 Jai Trophy

Bara District, spearheaded by fine bowling from Pawan Agrawal, has taken out the 15th Nepal National Cricket inter-district tournament for Jai Trophy, defeating Dhanusa District by 30 runs in last month's final. Cricket was introduced into Nepal by the early twentieth century by the ruling Rana clan who returned from studies in India and England enthused with the game, establishing a number of grounds near the royal palaces. The Cricket Association of Nepal was founded in 1946, and became a member of the Asian Cricket Council in 1994. Nepal participated in the Under-19 World Cup in 1999, 2002 and 2004, and the ICC Trophy for the first time in 2001.
