It was the seventh match between these two sides. India has won six, while Kenya has won one. Umpires Steve Bucknor and David Orchard officiated in their 56th and 76th match respectively. Vijay Dahiya, Zaheer Khan and Yuvraj Singh made their ODI debut. Now a total of 134 players have represented India in ODIs. It was only the ninth occasion when India fielded three debutants in a match (excluding its first ever ODI in which all eleven made their debut). The last such occasion was in December 1989 when Sachin Tendulkar,Vivek Razdan and Salil Ankola made their debut against Pakistan at Gujranwala on 18-12-1989 Yuvraj's father Yograj has also played international cricket for Indiaone Test and six one-dayers. They provided the first instance of father-son combination representing India in ODIs. At 18 years 296 days Yuvraj became the sixth youngest debutant for India after Sachin Tendulkar (16 yrs 238 days), Maninder Singh (17 yrs 222 days), Harbhajan Singh (17 yrs 288 days), Laxmi Ratan Shukla (17 yrs 320 days) and Chetan Sharma (17 yrs 228 days). Zaheer Khan became only the fourth left arm pace bowler after Eknath Solkar, Karsan Ghavri and Rashid Patel to play for India in One-Day Internationals. It must be kept in view that Solkar was only an occasional bowler and he also bowled slow left armers. Vijay Dahiya became the 14th specialist to don gloves for India in ODIs. He also became the third keeper to take two catches in his debut match after Sadanand Viswanath and Nayan Mongia. Sachin Tendulkar played his 250th match. He became the second Indian and eighth player overall to do so. Zaheer Khan became the ninth Indian to capture three wickets in debut match. The details:
