  • Brian Lara scored his 40th ODI fifty in his 168th match (besides 13 centuries). Lara became fourth West Indian and 14th batsman in ODIs to score 40 or more fifties in a career after Desmond Haynes (57 in 238), Viv Richards (45 in 187) and Richie Richardson (44 in 224).

  • Grant Flower who dismissed Brian Lara, completed his 50 wickets in ODIs.He became fifth Zimbabwean to do so after Heath Streak (111 wickets in 93 matches), Paul Strang (83 in 81), Guy Whittall (75 in 97) and Eddo Brandes (70 in 59).
  • By taking 126 matches to reach this milestone, Grant Flower became sixth slowest in ODI history after Pakistan's Saleem Malik (203), Australia's Allan Border (199), Sri Lanka's Aravinda de Silva (183), India's Sachin Tendulkar (175) and Sourav Ganguly (133). Incidentally the previous slowest Zimbabwean to do so was Guy Whittall whose 50th wicket came in his 74th match.

  • The first wicket stand of 24 runs between Neil Johnson and Craig Wishart is a new record for Zimbabwe for this wicket against West Indies. This just beat the previous record stand of 23 between Flower brothers at Hyderabad (India) on 21-11-1993.
  • Neil Johnson won his sixth Man of the Match award. With this he equalled Paul Strang's tally of awards. Now only Andy Flower (7) has won more awards than him for Zimbabwe.
