ACC XI v African XI
Wisden's report on the third Afro-Asia match
15-Apr-2008
At Chennai, June 10, 2007 (day/night). Third one-day international: Asian Cricket Council XI
won by 13 runs. Toss: Asian Cricket Council XI.
The Africans looked on top after reducing Asia to 72-5, but then Jayawardene and Dhoni put
on 218, a record for the sixth wicket in all one-day internationals, to set up another 300-plus
total. Dhoni faced only 97 balls, and collected 15 fours and five sixes. De Villiers and Sibanda
started with an opening stand of 117, but the spinners - and Dhoni, who made three stumpings
- put the brakes on. Kemp clattered seven sixes and put on 122 for the sixth wicket with Pollock
as the Africans again came close, without quite reaching the winning post.
