Somerset had to be content with a draw and eleven valuable points from their championship match against Surrey that ended at Taunton today.
Resuming at 96 without loss this morning the championship leaders took their score onto 324 for 5 before declaring, leaving the Cidermen needing 378 for victory.
For Surrey , Jonathan Batty who so nearly became a Somerset player scored 151, whilst Keith Parsons ended with 3 for 91
Once again openers Piran Holloway and Matt Wood got Somerset off to a good start, sharing a partnership of 75 before Holloway was out for 33.
Skipper Mike Burns then came into join the youngster from Devon, and between them they took the score onto 216, during which Matthew Wood scored his second century of the match, eventually being out for a career best of 131.
Surrey spinner Saqlain Mushtaq then claimed the three vital wickets of Matthew Wood, Mike Burns (68) and Ian Blackwell, and Somerset slipped to 324 for 7 before Keith Parsons saw them home to safety with an unbeaten 33.
