Australia v India 1999-2000

At Adelaide, January 26 (day/night)

15-Apr-2001
At Adelaide, January 26 (day/night). Australia won by 152 runs. Toss: Australia.
India's batting of the previous day was eclipsed by an awesome Australia Day performance from the home side that produced 329 runs, then their highest total in one-day internationals in Australia, beating 323 for two against Sri Lanka, also at Adelaide, in 1984-85. Mark Waugh and Gilchrist got away to a blazing start, putting on 163 in 30 overs, to which Waugh and Ponting added 100 more in little over 13. Symonds and Shane Lee, who faced 15 balls each, delivered the coup de grâce. Waugh, his form indifferent of late, took 131 balls for his 116; after hitting the first for four, he managed only five more boundaries. Australia's fast bowlers allowed the Indian openers no leeway, with Brett Lee's pace in particular rubbing in his side's fire-power. Dravid hit ten fours in his top-scoring 63.
Man of the Match: M. E. Waugh. Attendance: 29,506.
