XXXX Queensland Bulls pace bowler Brendan Creevey will captain the Queensland Academy of Sport in their opening ACB Cup match of the 2000-2001 season at Albion next week.
Creevey, who captained Sandgate to the Brisbane XXXX First Grade premiership title last season, heads a strong QAS outfit for the match against the Commonwealth Bank Cricket Academy from September 18-21 at Allan Border Field.
In addition to Creevey, the side contains seven players with first class experience. They include pace bowlers Ashley Noffke and Matthew Pascoe, batsman Clinton Perren, allrounder Lee Carseldine, spinner Matthew Anderson, wicket-keeper Gavin Fitness and opening batsman Jerry Cassell.
Cassell is coming off a timely knock of 143 for City against Country last week and will open the innings with rookie Norths batsman Duncan Betts.
Perren and QAS newcomer Brendon Nash will return from English League cricket stints in time for the match, the first in the ACB Second XI Cup calender for the year. The QAS doubles as Queensland's Second XI in the ACB Cup.
