Cullinan jets off to start coaching career in Bermuda

Convinced life is tough for international cricketers? Constant travel, living from a suitcase, playing in Third World conditions (well, okay, Tasmania's not that bad!). Daryl Cullinan's got the idea.

Eager to start a coaching career, Cullinan informed Dr Ali Bacher, he'd like to do a stint in one of the non-Test countries. The chill of Scotland maybe, the humidity of Malaysia? No way!

Cullinan will jet into Bermuda on June 21 from the err, well, "warmth" of an English summer, for the 'hardship' of a coaching assignment which is expected to continue until mid-September.

Fresh from the World Cup, Cullinan will bypass the latter stages of a Southern Hemisphere winter by overseeing the Bermuda national team's preparation for both the August triangular tournament in Toronto, Canada against the host nation and the United States, as well as the West Indies domestic one-day competition.

It must be karma that this sort of gesture was made to the present administration of the BCBC, which has aggressively adopted a youth development policy, after years of previous stagnation. Consistent with this, Allan Mansell, a Level Three coach previously from England, will oversee a coaching programme on June 21,22.23.
