England v Pakistan

At Sharjah, April 12 (day/night)

15-Apr-2000
At Sharjah, April 12 (day/night). England won by 62 runs. Toss: England.
England's luck changed after Stewart won the toss for the first time, though they already knew they were leaving early. It also looked unlikely when they scored only 206, thanks to Shoaib Akhtar's career-best four for 37. But Thorpe, who had been missing from England's one-day team for 12 months through back trouble, hit his second half-century in two days, and Ealham made 36 useful runs, then added four wickets after Fraser did the early damage. Pakistan, already in the final, simply did not seem interested, and were all out for less than half their previous total against England, with nearly ten overs to spare. It sparked familiar allegations of match-fixing from their former team-mate Rashid Latif, back in Karachi.
Man of the Match: M. A. Ealham.
