India v Zimbabwe 1997-1998

At Baroda, April 5

15-Apr-1999
At Baroda, April 5. India won by 13 runs. Toss: Zimbabwe.
When Tendulkar and Azharuddin were out to successive balls, leaving India 17 for two, Campbell's decision to insert them seemed indicated. But Jadeja- scoring at more than a run a ball on a day when the thermometer touched 43 degrees Centigrade - and Ganguly, returning after a one-match suspension, then took advantage of loose bowling (which included 14 wides). Chasing 275, Grant Flower and Campbell got off to an ideal start, hitting 121 for the first wicket. At 212 for three from 36 overs, Azharuddin was contemplating defeat. But the inexperienced spinners Sanghvi and Kanitkar (who held a spectacular return catch to dismiss Goodwin) rewarded his faith - and Zimbabwe had thrown away another winning position.
Man of the Match: H. H. Kanitkar.
