New Zealand v Pakistan, 2000-01

At Sharjah, April 12 (day/night)

15-Apr-2002
At Sharjah, April 12 (day/night). Pakistan won by eight wickets. Toss: New Zealand.
Shahid Afridi might have threatened Jayasuriya's two-day-old record of 30 runs in an over, but had to be satisfied with 26 off five balls (64646) from Bradburn, Imran Nazir having taken a single off the first delivery. Afridi hit his next ball, from Oram, for another four, which lifted Pakistan to 83 in the eighth over. The introduction of Adams checked the flow a little, and eventually he had Afridi caught at mid-on for 70 off 43 balls, with seven fours and six sixes. Nazir, with whom Afridi put on 113 in 15 overs, was out four balls later, but old hands Saeed Anwar and Inzamam-ul-Haq completed a comfortable win with a comparatively sedate partnership of 157 in 27 overs. Earlier, Sinclair had scored his maiden century in one-day internationals, batting for all but seven balls of the innings and striking six fours in 144 balls.
Man of the Match: Shahid Afridi.
