At Rawalpindi, October 12, 2003 (day/night). South Africa won by seven wickets. Toss: Pakistan.
Despite the absence of the suspended Smith and Hall, South Africa secured the series with a
win that was every bit as convincing as the margin suggests. Pakistan's decision to select the half-
fit Inzamam backfired when, unable to run properly - even by his standards - he was the victim
of an over-enthusiastic call from Younis Khan and a direct hit from Rudolph at mid-on. With too
many batsmen out of form, Pakistan surrendered meekly in the face of disciplined bowling, and
a modest target gave South Africa no alarms. Dippenaar, restored to the top of the order in Smith's
absence, became the tenth South African to reach 2,000 one-day international runs.
