Pakistan v Zimbabwe 1999-2000

At St George's, April 15

15-Apr-2001
At St George's, April 15. Pakistan won by six wickets. Toss: Zimbabwe.
Teenager Imran Nazir's thrilling maiden international hundred powered Pakistan to a comprehensive win and ended Zimbabwe's tour without a victory. Nazir easily outscored the usually dynamic Shahid Afridi, who made only 19 of their 49 off 48 balls together; in all, his 105 took 135 balls, with ten fours and two huge sixes. He also shared key stands with Inzamam-ul-Haq and Moin Khan, who hit a six and five fours. Zimbabwe had begun positively as Johnson and Wishart compiled 84 in 23 overs, but Pakistan's varied attack began to cull batsmen and never allowed an increase in tempo. Mushtaq Ahmed's miserly leg-spin was always impressive, and a target of 205 was below par on a perfect pitch and fast outfield. Wasim Akram became the second player after India's Mohammad Azharuddin to appear in 300 one-day internationals.
Man of the Match: Imran Nazir.
