Alamgir Sheriyar is to leave Worcestershire. The club have announced that they will "reluctantly" release him from his contract after the left arm pace bowler submitted a formal request to leave.
It has been a strange 12 months for the 26 year old from Birmingham. This time last year he was celebrating his call up for the A tour after bagging 92 wickets in the season. He endured a difficult tour personally, and managed only 28 wickets at an average of nearly 40 this season. The signing of McGrath and the emergence of Kabir Ali limited his opportunities, and his style was not ideally suited to the sluggish New Road pitches.
Worcestershire members will no doubt be surprised by the news as Sheriyar signed a new three year deal at the end of last season.
