There is more high performance gas in tank, says White

Craig White bowled a delivery at Oval today which may not be his fastest but shall remain as the most famous in his career. He removed Brian Lara for a first ball duck, the first bowler to do so against Lara in his 70 Test matches.

White then went to claim his best Test figures of 5 for 32, watched by his family members. His bowling triggered a collapse in the West Indian ranks to make them all out for 125. White later described the feeling as "awesome".

Lara gazed back at his disturbed leg stump in disbelief after White had hurried the delivery past his pads to produce the dreaded sound of leather hitting timber. "We knew he was going to get a long way across, he'd been out a number of times leaving the ball this summer. I thought if I get one up there straightish, I might knock his leg stump out" explained White on the plan which England had worked on.

White acknowledged that the dismissal of Lara made him ecstatic and that was his best moment in Test cricket. He has not had many really. Leeds born Australian brought up White, whose fastest ball has been timed at 89.3 mph adds that he bowls within himself and tries to put it in the right direction but reckons there is more high performance gas in the tank.

White who has a whippy action, naturally fast arm and good rhythm explains "I hope people will realise I'm a fast bowler. I've always bowled at that speed, people are starting to realise that. I knew I could bowl fast, I knew I could bowl as fast as anyone in the world on my day.". He also added that taking wickets increases one's confidence and makes one bowl quicker and quicker.

White who started as an off spinner, feels at home in the England squad and says "I feel very comfortable in the team situation at the minute. All my team-mates back me and when the ball is thrown to you, it's nice to know they expect you to get wickets. I try to get the ball in the right areas, my team-mates are taking great catches. Everything's going real well".

"Three months ago I had my little mishap. I honestly thought I was never going to play cricket again, let alone for England. I'm just enjoying it. There's no pressure, it's put life into perspective. I just go out there and do my best and not think too much about it", added White.
