Australian leg-spinner Shane Warne underwent a medical review in Melbourne today to assess the strength of his right shoulder, ahead of the Australian team's VB Series finals campaign.
Warne's shoulder was reviewed by team physiotherapist Errol Alcott and Australian Cricket Board medical officer Trefor James at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Alcott said that Warne's rehabilitation, and consequent recovery from domestic cricket commitments, has been very good.
"We reviewed Shane's shoulder today and we are happy with the way it has come up after the ING Cup match in Hobart on Sunday," Alcott said.
"He has undergone some treatment today and I have performed a clinical assessment of the shoulder's function. It's looking good."
Warne said he is extremely pleased with his shoulder's movement.
"I'm feeling good and when we get to Sydney tomorrow to prepare for the first VB Series final, we will speak to Ricky Ponting, the selectors and consult with the team medicos again before a decision is made on my availability."
The make-up of the team for the first VB Series final will be determined tomorrow in Sydney. Details of the team's arrival into Sydney will be released tonight or tomorrow morning.
Australian paceman Glenn McGrath will join the squad in Sydney, where he will also consult the team's medical staff, following his recent lay off with a back injury.
