Peter McGlashan played for Central Districts and Otago before joining Northern Districts in 2004. As wicketkeeper and an effective middle-order batsman, he found success in all three formats and won a place in the New Zealand XI in 2009 in the home series against India. Later that year, he set a domestic wicketkeeping record, effecting 12 dismissals in a Plunket Shield game against Central Districts. Incidentally, it was also a wicketkeeping record for most catches in a first-class game - he took six in each innings. McGlashan was named in the 30-man preliminary squad for the World Twenty20 in 2012, but decided to retire from all cricket in July that year, choosing a career outside of cricket with a foundation geared towards eliminating domestic violence.
