Left-arm spinner Hiren Varaiya weaved his magic as Kenya stormed to a 247-run victory against Canada at the Maple Leaf South-West Ground in Toronto. Needing 385 for the win on the final day with eight wickets, the hosts were no match for Varaiya as he ripped through the middle and lower order to end with 6 for 45.
Abdool Samad was left to fight a lone battle as wickets fell regularly. His fighting 87, featuring 17 boundaries, was the only bright spot for Canada and his 44-run 6th wicket partnership with Sunil Dhaniram proved to be the highest of the innings. Once Nehemiah Odhiambo trapped Samad leg before to reduce Canada to 161 for 8, Varaiya completed the formalities by quickly removing Khurram Chohan and Henry Osinde.
