Almost caught but Chennai win! What a dramatic finish. Great effort from Shikhar Dhawan at deep midwicket boundary. Badri leaned forward and swung a loopy flighted delivery well to the left of deep midwicket but Shikar Dhawan rushed across quick and dived full stretch and some how managed to get his left hand to the rapidly dipping delivery. It was a incredible effort from him to get there and almost pull off a catch. But Gony and Badri have done the job when it mattered for Chennai. Phew. What a game.
Daredevils vs CSK, 28th match at Delhi, IPL, May 08 2008 - Match Result
CSK won by 4 wickets (with 0 balls remaining)
Sehwag: "I didn't think 187 was short. But the fifth bowler cost us. Both me and Malik gave away runs. Glenn and Asif have been great, Sangwan and YO Mahesh have been learning things from them. The wicket was fantastic and I would have elected to field first had I won the toss."
Dhoni: "We would have liked to win the game in the 19th over but I guess it was good for the spectators. It can't get better than this. We needed to focus on the weakness after the loss and plug the gaps. Our first four wins were very crucial as it gave us time to adjust. Our fielding was not great, Viru's side was great there and also they bowled lots of yorkers. Our bowlers need to focus on it. Fleming played well and Albie played a crucial big over late in the innings"
.
Man of the Match: Dhoni! Hmm... That was a bit strange but yeah who am I to question.
That's it from us. Thanks for logging on. Alvida.
Sehwag has a lengthy chat with Malik
turns in from outside off, Badri wanted to ping cover point but gets a inside edge down the track. 1 from 1. What a finish we have here. Will we have a bowlout?!
nice loopy delivery outside off, Badri stretched across to play a Hooper like chip shot over covers
loopy full toss outside off stump, mistimes his swing and will pick up a single to long on
What a profitable edge! Fuller, quicker, closer to the off stump, Gony swings, gets outside edge to third man boundary
Pressure makes Malik bowl a wide one outside off stump
Go go go gonyyyyy...... Malik slowed up the pace as he saw Goni come out but he adjusted, waited before heaving it over deep midwicket. Tension is killing here
another one, almost at the blockhole, outside off, dug out to covers
yorker from Yomi, on the leg stump line, jabbed to the off side. Super delivery that.
Super shot that. He backed away at the last minute and knifed a length delivery to deep extra cover region.
full, straight, driven to right of long-on
Another wicket is down and Delhi get ahead. Full and straight, driven hard but straight to long-off
What a stunning catch from AB. Dhoni had drilled a fullish delivery towards long-on and it was dipping rapidly on AB who was rushing forward. He dived forward to get his palms under the ball. Allan Border would understand Dhoni's feelings. He was out to a similar catch by Jadeja in the 1992 World Cup.
Yet another full toss from Asif, outside off stump, and hit straight to deep cover.
Another full toss from Asif and Dhoni puts this away to the midwicket boundary.
full one, drilled to right of long-off where Malik fields and sends in a powerful throw back
full and just outside off stump, Dhoni tries to paddle, then changes his mind seeing the length and tries to steer it to off side, misses and it runs off Karthik's pad. Karthik is standing up to the stumps
low full toss, mistimes his pull to deep midwicket. Had he got hold of it properly, he could have got a six. Lucky escape for Asif
low full toss on the middle stump line, paddled to left of McGrath who struggles to get across in time but manages to restrict it to a single
falls short of the blockhole, on the middle stump line, bottom-hand works overtime and he whips it down the ground for a single
